The next version of Mi-Dia blog is seeming to take more time every time we meet a certain point in development. Each time we meet the benchmark of where we want to be with this version, an obvious and nagging change becomes apparent. Good think we did not set ourselves a deadline.
Its definably shaping up to being more than another number at the bottom of the page. Some noted feature's which are already implemented include a full content management system mode, publishing manager, reworked Staff Panel (ACP),
Along with the feature's above, we can confirm that a forum addon has been created and work's natively with the blog. Note that this feature is a while off as we only have the basics down on that front.
In short, Mi-Dia Blog's next version will be a powerful blogging and web publishing format which can be easily adapted to any means.
As for the secretiveness of the version number, there is none. We had intended to go with 1.0.9 following the current trend but the changes are too great in my personal opinion so be such a small change. We may be looking at a Mi-Dia Blog 1.1.0 or a 2.0.0

As part of the site rebuild, we have reinstated the demo website with the current 1.0.8 version of Mi-Dia Blog. You can now access it by the header link once again or by its address http://demo.mi-dia.co.uk/ View Full Entry Category: News Comments:0Tags:Blog Demo
We apologise for the recent downtime of Mi-Dia, currently the reason for the downtime is not fully known and is being investigated to ensure it will not reoccur.
Due to the downtime we have reverted to a base installation of 1.0.8, this is only a temporary means while we rebuild the website.
During this time section's of the site will not be accessible. If you click a link and are redirected to a 404 page or the home page, this is an indication of this. We hope to have the site fully up and running again soon. View Full Entry Category: News Comments:0Tags:Downtime
Plan's for the 2.x.x Mi-Dia Blog
Author:Chris ( Admin ) Date: 13/06/2010, 10:40 am Status: Offline
With the help of Ryan, we are going ahead with a large overhaul of Mi-Dia Blog and between us some new functionality and products will be prodiced with the aim of making the blog more dynamic and able to be a full content management system. ( CMS ).
The current Plan's are as follow's.
- Future Version's will contain a built in CMS mode which can enable the admin to easily swith from the default blog configuration ( 2 column ) to a more CMS capable ( 3 Column ). With the CMS mode come's additional block's including a dynamic menu which merge's existing content e.g pages block, account management with a new CMS menu.
- A forum System is being developed based on the same core as the blog. This forum will initially be an addon which easily intergrates with the current blog system. It will also be released as a standalone project.
- New style's using the advantage of modern web technique's to give a whole new look to the project's including better effects, functionality and no longer embedded content forms.
The end goal for this is that we will have several free products for you to choose from.
1) Standard Blog - The normal release of Mi-Dia Blog but with the CMS functionality.
2) Forum Addon - A version of the forum designed to easily be added to an existing blog.
3) Forum - A Full standalone version of the Forum, without any need of the blog.
4) CMS - Blog and Forum in one package. Basically the blog with the forum addon preinstalled.
We will make another announcement regarding this when more is done, sadly there is currently no estimate release date due to the amount of work we are settings ourselves. View Full Entry Category: News Comments:0Tags:2.x.x Plans
Welcoming a new member to the team!
Author:Chris ( Admin ) Date: 13/06/2010, 10:29 am Status: Offline
We would like to welcome a new member to the Team, Ryan Stewart.
Ryan will be bringing Mi-Dia Blog to Web 2.0 with his talent in Web design using a combination of jquiery's and artistic flair to bring better functionality and eye-candy to future releases. He will also be part of the coding group and help design the blog from its inner working outwards.
So we now have 2 good points;
1) Another Pair of Hands and opinion to steer the project
2) No more ugly templates by me
As we expand the site, we also need to try and keep it organised so new user's are not baffled with 100's of link's to different pieces of information or features.
To this end, the navigation tabs Templates and Mods have been replaced with one link called Addons. This new link opens up a page linking to the Mod's database, and the new Templates database, keeping all additional content for the Mi-Dia Blog organised.
As we look into progressing into adding a community forum, we have decided that the main website will be primarily a read only site with the option of guest commenting. Due to this we have disabled to stat's block and may eventually close registration on the Mi-Dia Blog homepage.
Tomorrow we plan to perform an update to the website to combine both the Modification Database and the Templates into one section, making the site more organised. View Full Entry Category: News Comments:0Tags:Addons
This is a minor update regarding the current release of Mi-Dia Blog. We have made several file changes to boost performance and cover a minor technical detail.
Logging in and tag searching This was a join issue between browser's and some web hosts, which prevented the function used in logging in and searching. We have rectified this issue by replacing the code.
Performance Files have been tidied up and lightened to make execution time quicker.
Simply replace all files except config.php on your host with these files for the upgrade from 1.0.8 to this tuned 1.0.8. View Full Entry Category: Release Comments:0Tags:1.0.8 Update Release
A small update has been added to the ModDB ( Modification Database ), the update is regarding a new page which outlines the rules for submitting a Modification of any kind.
The rule's page is linked next to the Submit A Modification link on the home page of the ModDB, signified as a separate link as ( Rules ). Although we would rather not have rule's for modification, they have been added more as guidelines to speed the process up of validation and to give prior warning of reason's which would result in a Modification being refused.
As part of the ongoing upgrade of this website, each feature has its own updates which can happen at varied times.
This time, the feature updated was ModDB, purely to make the feature easier to use and more tidy, the updates include;
- Categories Feature
- Updated Home Page
More updates are planned for this feature, but we felt that it was important to focus on these first.
We hope you find this more useful. View Full Entry Category: News Comments:0Tags:ModDB
We have always had an open policy with our development of future releases, allowing user's to see and test out the changes and allowing a ongoing security tuning.
Problem with this is simple, after a review of the security log we found a large quantity of attack's and exploit attempts, appearing to be looking for way's to attack sites using the future version and to actually attack this website.
Due to this, we have decided to keep all our development now offline. Instead of having user's able to test out the script, we will be releasing more news on development in regards to features and changes.
A support system using Mi-Dia Blog has been added, the feature works by registered user's posting support requests as blog entries. You can access the support section by clicking the Support link in the header. View Full Entry Category: News Comments:0Tags:Support
